The official ZuneBoards Development Front IRC channel is #zbdf on chat.freenode.net. If you don't have an IRC client, the Freenode web chat is the easiest way to connect; mIRC, Pidgin, and Trillian are popular clients for additional functionality. You can also connect to #zbdf on your Zune HD using YamaIRC, an IRC client built in OpenZDK.
You may be interested in the Freenode FAQ. Please make sure to be polite. You can come here to ask questions, talk to the developers about OpenZDK, or just hang out. We recommend registering with nickserv to stake a claim on your nickname and avoid confusion.
In order to preserve your nickname for future visits to the IRC channel, you need to register your nickname.
While in chat, type /msg nickserv register password email, replacing password with a password of your choice and email with a valid e-mail address that you can check. Once registered, use /msg nickserv identify password, replacing password with the password you originally entered, to log in. You can log in immediately after registering, but your account will expire after 24 hours unless you follow the directions in the confirmation e-mail sent to your address to verify it.
If someone else is using your nickname, you can now regain control of it using /msg nickserv ghost nickname password, which will boot anyone using your registered name. You can then restore your nickname using /nick nickname.
